Int. Friendly: Falcons Battle Cameroon In Abuja

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will battle Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses in an international friendly in Abuja this evening.

Head coach of the Nigerian ladies, Edwin Okon, has assured the Cameroon team will be turned back empty-handed in the friendly tie at the FIFA Goal Project pitch, Abuja.

Both sides are using the high profile clash as build-up for their 2014 Africa Women’s Championship (AWC) in Namibia final round qualifying matches.

The Falcons are due to confront the She-Amavubi of Rwanda in the two-legged tie in Kigali and Abuja in the next two months to decide who win the spot for the biennial football showpiece in the Southern African state.

Okon said his side have spent quality time on fitness and endurance tactics among others aimed at giving the former African queens a head start against the Cameroonian foes.

“First and foremost we understand the Cameroonians are not here for jamboree else they won’t have gone ahead to import their professionals, they’ve not hidden their intention to win the encounter since arrival into the country.

“But they won’t see a draw not to talk of win because we’re coming all out to give it to them in every aspect of the game.

“We’re parading the best legs available as we’ve charged them to be calm and take their chances at goal. “Though the encounter is a friendly one but the opponents involved have made it more or less a normal competitive game.

“We’re happy with the quality of opposition as it will help us immensely when we tackle the Rwandans for a place in the forthcoming Africa Women’s Championship in Namibia.

“Nigerians should be rest assured we won’t disappoint against Cameroon come Tuesday,” said the former Falconets head coach to supersport.com.
