Osun election: NCP to hold primaries
The National Conscience Party (NCP) in Osun said on Sunday that it would conduct its congress to elect its flag-bearer for the 9 August governorship election in the state on 2 June.
The Chairman of the party in the state, Gideon Fasorepo, told NAN in Osogbo that 250 delegates from all the 30 local government areas were expected to attend the congress.
He said the congress would take place at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Osogbo, by 11:00 a.m.
The chairman said out of the 250 delegates, only 110 would be allowed to vote.
“Some 250 people are expected at the congress but only 110 delegates will be allowed to vote.
“And those who will vote are 20 state executive members and three delegates each from the local governments,” he said.
Fasorepo said out of the three aspirants that initially indicated interest, only two obtained the nomination forms while one aspirant actually submitted the form for the primary election.
He said the party had notified the police and the State Security Services about the event.
The chairman said that after the primaries, the party would visit all the nooks and crannies of the state to canvass for votes.
He promised that the campaign would be devoid of abusive language, violence or thuggery.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed 9 August for the governorship election in the state.
