Eight dead, seven injured in accident

At least eight persons were confirmed dead while seven others were seriously injured when a truck carrying a container rammed into a Nissan Cabster conveying some construction workers to site along Akute-Matogun area, Ifo local government area, Ogun State.

The accident occurred early on Friday 27 June morning. The Cabster was registered FKJ 279 XB and the truck FST 841 FF.

The cabster was conveying members of the Agege branch of the Concrete Association of Nigeria to their site when the truck ran into it, killing eight persons on the spot, while another seven were severely injured.

The injured, three females and four males have been taken to the General Hospital, Gbagada, Lagos State.

Confirming the incident to our correspondent, the Akute/Ojodu Unit Commander of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, Michael Adetunji revealed that the accident was caused by reckless driving by both drivers.
