Teenagers Arrested For Cultism In Benin

Nine teenagers were among 15 persons arrested by the Edo State Police Command for practicing cultism in the state.

The teenagers whose ages range between 13 and 17 years, were arrested at Unewa in Esan North East Local Government and Ologbo in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of the state.

Edo State Police Command spokesman, DSP Noble Uwoh, disclosed that eight of them who were arrested at Unewa were members of ‘Hallah of the Night’ while the others arrested at Ologbo were members of Eiye confraternity.

Uwoh who disclosed that two battle axes were recovered from the suspended cultists, added that they would be charged to court on Wednesday.

In a related development, an suspected gun runner, Ebhodaghe Tedah, has been paraded by the police in Benin.

Ebhodaghe however said he used the guns for hunting wild animals.‎

According to the Edo State Police Command, four double barrel guns were recovered from the suspect who was alleged to have been leasing the guns to armed robbers, kidnappers and political thugs.
