Five dead after church, hospital shelled in Ukraine

An artillery attack on a town in eastern Ukraine killed five civilians, three of whom were attending a religious service when the shell blasted through the roof of their church, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church said Sunday.

“The church (in Kirovske) is completely destroyed, three people died,” said a message on the church’s regional website about the attack which happened on Saturday. “A shell from the same attack hit a hospital, leaving two dead,” the statement added.
