Former Chairman of Ifo local government council in Ogun state, Dr. Sikirulai Ogundele has joined the governorship race in the state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The two-time lawmaker in the state declared that his conviction and political track records were parts of his decision to contest for the governorship seat in the state, adding that, he is optimistic that he will be given the ticket to fly the party flag in the 2015 election.

‘OSOCO’ as fondly called by his political admirers also advised the Federal government to postpone the resumption date of the students to allow medical experts get drugs to combat the dreadful disease.

“I have no doubt in my mind that I would be considered for the ticket in the party. I have everything above other aspirants. I have the experience, personality, integrity, exposure and academic background. I have done it as a lawmaker two times and also as council chairman of the biggest local government council in the state. While in office, I was awarded the best Local Government Council Chairman in the country, in the Southwest and to cap it, the best in the state. My strength is my goodwill to the state and with God on my side, I will be given the ticket to defeat the incumbent and will be sworn in, come May 29, 2015,” Ogundele boasted.

The former Ifo local government council boss chided the present administration for embarking on , what he described as obnoxious policies, saying that, if given the chance, he will do better. “I look at the ongoing projects across the state, I considered the obnoxious policies of my good brother at the helm of affairs, the
penny-wise and pound-foolish. I concluded that he does not know about governance. Any leader that allows emotion to reflect in his government has committed a blunder and you can all agree with me that this government has committed that. The greatest opportunity our party, PDP, will have in 2015 is the disunity and internal crisis
which have torn the ruling party apart and that is where our strength lies,” he posited.

On the rumbles over the resumption date of both the public and private schools in the country because of the Ebola Virus Disease, the former lawmaker advised that for avoidance of doubt, the Federal Government should forget about the resumption for now and focus on the way out of the disease.

“I want to advise the federal government to postpone the resumption date till further notice, considering the sensitivity of the disease. As it is today, we have not been told that they have seen a medicine that can cure the disease and do we really need to rush our children back to the classroom? We should note that, it is an infectious disease and there is no duplicate to life.

“If it affects one person in a classroom, there is 100 per cent possibility that the whole class is not safe. The disease must be tackled with all vigour and rigour and the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, recently disclosed their stand on this matter and it is the same as I am saying. Let’s be wise enough and proffer solution first before talking of resumption,” the Ogun governorship aspirant advised.
