Woman slices stepdaughter’s buttock with hot knife

A 29-year old woman, Lucy Samuel has been arrested by the police for allegedly maltreating her stepdaughter, Joan Samuel, 15, by slicing her buttock with a hot knife in Lagos state, Southwest, Nigeria.

She was charged before Magistrate’s court, Isolo with the alleged offence after she inflicted injury on the victim. The incident happened at 14/16 Isheri Oshun road Bucknor in Ejigbo, Lagos.

On the day the incident happened, Lucy reportedly took her kitchen knife and put it inside a burning stove until it turned red. Lucy then took off Joan’s cloth and used the knife and sliced her bottom, stomach and laps.

The teenager lives with Lucy and her father, Samuel after her mother was sent away shortly after Lucy married her father.

Police sources said Lucy was not happy Joan was staying with them because she believed that her presence was a threat to her marriage.

P.M.NEWS gathered that after she failed to convince her husband to send her away, she started maltreating her. Her unpleasant attitude towards the girl was noticed by neighbours who alerted the police shortly after Lucy had cut Joan.

The woman was arrested and charged to court with grievous harm under the Criminal Code. When she was arraigned, she pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She was remanded in prison custody pending when she fulfills her bail condition.
