Massive defection from LP to APC

No fewer than 10,900 members of the shaking and about to die, Labour Party (LP) in Ogun State have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The defecting members include two of the three senatorial chairmen, five local government chairmen, a local government women leader, State House of Assembly aspirant, about 900 wards, councils and state leaders and about 10,000 members were among the decampees.

In a statement Tuesday afternoon, which was signed by many leaders of the Labour Party in the state, copy which was obtained by our correspondent in Abeokuta, revealed that the unprecedented achievement of the present administration made them to switch back to the ruling party.

Among those that signed the statement are: Otunba M.O Oladeinde (Ogun Central acting chairman), Tunde Okoya (Ogun West), Olatunde James (Abeokuta North), Olajide Adubi (Ewekoro), A.B Olanike (Yewa south), Akorede Adesanya (Ijebu North East) and Olusegun Kolade (Ijebu North).

Others are the Women leader from Ado odo/Ota, Mrs Funke Adeniji and Ijebu ode House of Assembly aspirant, Olufowobi Temitope.

They affirmed that former governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel “only left the party with a tiny fraction of its PPN members and as such the party as it is formally constituted remains intact,” the statement reads in part.

The party in the statement commended “the boldness and steadfastness of the about 900 leaders in the 20 councils of the party across the state.

“It also appreciates the over 10,000 teeming members of the party for believing in the leadership and by accepting to work together with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State,” the statement submitted.
