We have qualified, unbeatable candidates, PDP tells Amaechi
Okafor OFIEBOR/Port Harcourt

In total disagreement with the statement credited to Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers state that the party does not have any quality candidate, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the governor has only demonstrated outright ignorance and suppression of facts and reality.
The PDP is however not worried about the governor’s statements as the political scene has been inundated with series of such untrue claims by the APC.
PDP says that the statement by Amaechi, is not unusual, as it is a proof of his known disposition to the application of deceptive propaganda in his political campaign.
The PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah, in a statement said the party’s challenge now is how to select from the long list of eminently qualified aspirants who are technocrats and professionals in their respective fields of human endeavour, and who have made significant and unmatchable imprints in the sands of time in political leadership and sound economic management of human and material resources of the state and the nation.
The party says it only believes that Governor Amaechi is intimidated by the towering credentials of who it will finally present as flag-bearers for all elective positions in the state and at the national levels.
It is unfortunate that rather than admitting his fears and palpable failure in the coming elections, Governor Amaechi chose to console his diminishing supporters with frivolous claims and deception.
The PDP explains that the rationale behind its decision not to zone any elective position to a particular area, but to throw it open to all interested persons was to give room for quality contest and selection of the best out of the train of wise party-men that would aspire for the various positions.
To our mind, this is the beauty of democracy, and PDP, as a responsible Party, will not deny any qualified persons his fundamental rights as a citizen of Nigeria.
The PDP therefore assures Rivers people and indeed, Nigerians that it has put in process of presenting to them the best that can be offered and will always stand unbeatable in a genuinely contested election.
