Eagles End 2014 As World No. 43 Team In FIFA Ranking

Nigeria’s senior national team, the Super Eagles, have dropped one place from their 42nd position last month to end the year 2014 on number 43rd in the latest FIFA world ranking released early today.

The Eagles are now the ninth ranked African side behind Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Tunisia, Ghana, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Guinea and Senegal following their poor run in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Their drop comes after playing 2-2 with South Africa in Uyo International Stadium, Akwa- Ibom State and failed to qualify for the next year Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for Equatorial Guinea.

Meanwhile Algeria remain at the summit of African football with 948 points which put them in the 18th position in the world while Tunisia are second in Africa and ranked  22nd in the world.

Cote d’Ivoire stayed third in Africa and ranked 28th in the world. Senegal remain fourth on the continent which places them in the 35th spot in the world.

Germany, Argentina and Colombia hold the first, second and third spots in the world respectively as FIFA World Cup hosts Brazil retained their sixth spot in the world.
