PDP governorship aspirant, others defect to SDP in Ogun

The political drama in Ogun State, Southwest, Nigeria is gathering more momentum as another bigwig from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has defected to the Social Democratic Party, SDP, with members loyal to him.

Former Commissioner in Otunba Gbenga Daniel administration, Engr Tony Ojeshina, a.k.a. ETO has alongside his teeming supporters decamped to the SDP citing injustice from the leadership of the PDP.

Other PDP stalwarts who have also moved out from the PDP in the state include the Ogun West Senatorial aspirant, Biyi Otegbeye and another aspirant, Tope Kuyebi.

Our correspondent gathered from a reliable source that the trio who are from Ogun West Senatorial District were in a meeting with the leadership of the Social Democratic Party, SDP in the region on Sunday and yesterday.

“Yes, the die is cast, we can’t continue to be wallowing among those who are so much into injustice. We met with the SDP leaders on Sunday and the meeting was held till around 10:30 p.m. and it was continued yesterday. In a nutshell, we have moved out from PDP to SDP and I learnt that our members also from Ogun Central are also in talks with UPN while others are discussing with SDP too.

“Our political ambition will be achieved in our new party and I want to tell you that with our movement to SDP, there no power tussle or rancour over sharing of elective offices,”one of the leaders who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent on phone this morning.

It would be recalled that many aggrieved members from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in the state have defected to SDP.

Some of the aides to the governor of the state, Ibikunle Amosun who have resigned their appointments have joined the SDP making the party formidable force.

As at the time of filling this report, all the candidates contesting on the platform of the Social Democratic Party, SDP were meeting with the leader of the party, Chief Olusegun Osoba at his residence in Abeokuta, the state capital.
