Funke 77 Storms Nigeria For New Album

Dallas, America-based female gospel artiste, Olufunke Olaniyi otherwise known as Funke 77, is set to visit Nigeria in February to record her second album.

In a telephone chat with P.M.NEWS Entertainment Café, Funke 77 hinted that she will be in the country soon for her second album to be produced by musician/producer, Michael Gbenga Adedugbagbe a.k.a Say Yes.

She disclosed further that the yet to be titled sophomore is a follow-up to her six-track debut, Olorun Oro (God of Word) dropped in 2008.

Funke, who hails from Ibadan, Oyo State, is one of the children of the Osogbo, Osun State-based late popular musician, Taiwo Bamidele Atoyeje Olaniyi, popularly called Twin 77.

She added that her stage name Funke 77 is an adaptation of her father’s stage name.

“My father’s stage name Twin 77 was coined out Taiwo which means one of set twins. I found the 77 to be the most appropriate, hence, the adoption,” she explained.
