Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state led by the governorship candidate, Dakuku Peterside on Monday braved sporadic shooting allegedly orchestrated by the PDP to carry out it’s ward to ward rally in Bakana and Tombia all in Degema Local government area.

The standard bearer accompanied by his campaign Director General, Victor Giadom among others was in Bakana to address party faithfuls in ward 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 17, and Tombia ward 7, 8, 9, 10 and 15, where he restated that his policy centered on education, health, security and infrastructural development after addressing Bille ward 16.

Trouble started shortly after Dr Peterside admitted by the Chiefs of Tombia into their council as Dein Pribo meaning peace maker finished addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters at Bakana.

Unknown gunmen attempted to disrupt his campaign rally like they did at Okrika but supporters subdued the gunmen to stage a successful rally. No injury has been reported.

Peterside during the rally pledged to actualize the Bonny/Bille/Nembe jetty in his first year in office if elected.

He promised to sand fill, pile and provide shore protection in areas that demand such, just as he announced plans to connect Bakana, Tombia and Bille to Port Harcourt by road.

Overwhelmingly received at the different communities visited, the candidate assured that he will run a participatory government, create jobs and security.

While soliciting their votes for the APC to enable him actualise his promise, he said”Governance is a social contract, play your part and I will play my part”

In their separate response, the chiefs and party leaders that spoke at wardss visited assured the governorship candidate of their support.
