Osinbajo arrives Burkina Faso for inauguration of new president

President Muhammadu Buhari will be represented today by Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, at the inauguration of a new and democratically elected president of Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré.
Kaboré emerged last month after general elections in the West African nation.

Earlier in September this year, Buhari had presided over an Extra-ordinary session of ECOWAS leaders in Abuja regarding a military coup that took place that month in Burkina Faso. The meeting called for the restoration of civil rule and supported the progress of the political transition. This culminated in the November presidential and parliamentary elections in the country.

The Vice President represented President Buhari at the follow-up meeting of select ECOWAS leaders in the nation’s capital city- Ouagadougou. That meeting contributed to the termination of the military coup and restoration of Burkina Faso’s democratic transition.

The Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN arrived in Ouagadougou this morning for the one-day visit.
