The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Aswani police station, Mr. Akeem Adedeji, a superintendent of police on 23rd January 2016 celebrated with his officers and men who were recently promoted by the police authority.

It would be recalled that 25 officers were promoted to the next rank which include 3 ASPs, 7 INSPs and 15 SGTs.

The event which took place at the station in Isolo area of Lagos State, southwest, Nigeria was graced by his royal majesty, HRM Oba Kabiru Kolawole Alani Adelaja Agbabiaka Ainagbeto Adeola III, Osolo of Isolo Kingdom and Hon. Muyideen .A. Adegboyega, the chairman Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) Aswani Division.

In his speech, the Oba of Isolo Oba Kabiru Kolawole Adeola III, Osolo of Isolo Kingdom enjoined the promoted officers to see their promotion as a call for more dedication to duty, praying that God will protect them in their task of protecting lives and property.

ā€œI want you to see this promotion as a divine call for you to work harder in protecting lives and property because that is your primary duty and I pray that God will continue to protect you in your daily duties.ā€ Oba Adeola said.

DPO Adedeji who could not hide his joy told the gathering that he was proud of his officers as no one has come with a complain against any of them since he took over the mantle of leadership at the station.

He also used the medium to thank the royal father and all those who come to rejoice with them.

In his speech, chairman PCRC Aswan division, Hon. Muyideen .A. Adegboyega told the gathering that history was made as such an event had never taken place in the whole of Area ā€˜D’ police command, adding that, the DPO has broken a record.

He added that he hopes other division will emulate him while urging the DPO to sustain it as it brought both civilians and the police together thereby erasing the notion that the police are bad people since it provides a platform for both to interact freely.

Others at the event include Otunba Adebayo Adesina Bobayo of Isolo Kingdom, Chairman council of elders of Isolo; High Chief Wasiu Saka Olorogun of Isolo Kingdom; Alhaji M.A. Alebiosu Chairman (PCRC) Ago Okota Division; Sir Col M.O Akanji (rtd); Elder Olaide Idowu, Director City Pharmacy and Community Development Committee (CDC) members, PCRC members, vigilante groups, market men and woman amongst others.
