A 31-year-old sales representative, Eric Ikechukwu, who allegedly stole his employer’s N139,500, is being tried at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, who lives at Shibiri Road, Okokomaiko, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and forgery.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Donjor Perezi told the court that the offences were committed between March to August 2015 at Naijamed Pharmacy Ltd, Agege, Lagos.

Perezi alleged that the accused failed to remit N139,500 into the company’ s account, being proceeds from sales.

“The accused also forged the company’s invoice.”

The offences contravened Sections 278(1) and 363(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused denied the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case has been adjourned to August 16 for mention.
