Five docked over burglary, stealing

Five persons appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates Court in Lagos on Thursday over alleged burglary and stealing.

The accused are Olatunbosun Olushesi, 32, Ovabor Micheal, 29, Raji Thomas, 26, Marculay Akhiwu,26, and Okeji Iliyas,19.

The accused, whose addresses are unknown, are facing a three-count charge bordering on burglary and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem told the court that the accused persons committed the offences on Aug. 20 at No 8, Abiodun Sadiku Str., Dopemu, Agege Area, Lagos.

Akeem alleged that the accused burgled the apartment of the complainant, Oyebanji Abdullahi and stole soap making chemicals valued at N275,000.

“The complainant caught the accused persons in the act and reported the act at the police station which led to their arrest.”

He said the offences contravened Sections 285, 39 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr T. O. Shomade granted each of the accused bail in the sum a N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

Shomade adjourned the case to Oct. 10 for mention.
