Governor Wike sacks 17 local government caretaker committees

Barely 24 hours after the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, suspended four commissioners for three months, the governor on Thursday dissolved the 17 local government caretaker committees in the state.

A statement by Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Electronic Media said that the dissolution of the Caretaker Committees takes immediate effect.

The following are the Local Government Caretaker Committees dissolved by the Governor:

Akuku Toru
Ahoada East
Andoni
Bonny
Eleme
Emohua
Etche
Ikwerre
Obio/Akpor
Ogu/Bolo
Okrika
Ogba/Egbema /Ndoni
Omuma
Oyigbo
Port Harcourt City
Tai

The statement said all the caretaker committee chairmen are to hand over to the most senior officials in their respective councils.
