Union backs Gov. Masari on reorganisation of civil service

Alhaji Umar Imam, Katsina State Chairman of Environmental Health Officers Union, has backed ongoing reorganisation of the state civil service by Gov. Aminu Masari.
Imam said the exercise would enhance efficiency and transparency in the service.
The chairman said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Funtua, that the reorganisation would also ensure proper placement of workers based on their qualifications and ability.
“This will surely propel growth and effective service delivery at all levels.”
According to him, the exercise would further allow workers to be compensated properly, enhance motivation, eliminate favoritism and god fatherism.
“Working condition was being abused in the past as many persons that were not entitled with certain allowances enjoyed it, which increased burden on the government’’
“We hope that when implementing the resolutions of the exercises workers with relevant qualifications will be placed on right grades with proper entitlements and open door for the recruitment of more workers in the state’’ Imam said.
The chairman advised the government to empower environmental officers in the 34 local government areas of the state, to carry out their duties.
Imam also called for recruitment of environmental officers, to ensure cleanliness and prevent outbreak of diseases.
He explained that environmental workers respond to all forms of outbreaks, road accidents, evacuation of corpses and ensure proper disposal of wastes.
The chairman called on the governor to adopt the Federal Government’s circular on environmental workers remunerations, to enhance their productivity.
According to him, the union is partnering relevant agencies to stem environmental pollutions and spread of infections across the state.
Imam advised parents to allow their children study Environmental Health Information Management courses, to bridge existing gaps in effective health care services.
