The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) said it prosecuted no fewer than 30 traffic offenders in Auchi, Etsako-West Local Government Area of Edo in November.

Mr Moses Bature, the FRSC Auchi Unit Commander disclosed this in Auchi on Monday.

Bature said that the prosecutions were carried out in different locations through the mobile court.

“In the month of November, the command apprehended 30 traffic offenders with 27 convicted while three were discharged.

“We will continue to go to the roads for daily patrol to ensure enforcement so that when we arrest one, it will serve as deterrent to others,” he said.

The Auchi Unit Commander said that motorists were still overloading their vehicles and violating traffic rules.

He said that the unit had intensified enforcement on overloading and speeding, especially in these ember months.

“Nobody should overload his vehicle, if you are loading your vehicle, you ensure you load the number of passengers your vehicle is supposed to carry.

“Because overloading can impose danger on the lives of people on the road, when you overload it is difficult for the drivers to control their steering,” he said.

He, however, urged the commercial drivers to obey traffic rules, avoid overloading and ensure that their tyres were in good condition before embarking on any trip.
