The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) says it has deployed a Global Positioning System (GPS) for its programmes in Sokoto State.

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) says it has deployed a Global Positioning System (GPS) for its programmes in Sokoto State.
Dr Aminu Aliyu, the IFAD Programme Officer in Sokoto State, said this at a workshop organised for workers of Wamakko Local Government Council on data collection processes in Wamakko.
A statement, signed by IFAD Communications Officer in the state, Alhaji Hayatu Dallatu, in Sokoto on Wednesday, said that Aliyu was represented at the event by the State Climate Change Officer, Mr Abubakar Dan-Audu.
Aliyu said that the the training was to educate the workers about the processes involved in generating data, particularly those relating to agricultural production.
“Any activity that is to be accomplished under IFAD/Community Agricultural Support Programme in the state must be captured through this GPS.
“This is the vogue globally and for us to have reliable information, it is necessary for us to use instruments or devices that will facilitate the process,’’ he said.
Also speaking, Alhaji Kabiru Saidu, the State Agricultural Development Officer, said that the training would acquaint the participants on ways to generate empirical data agricultural production.
