Two men, who allegedly conspired and stole 10 bags of sugar valued at N140,000, were on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s’ Court, Lagos.
The accused, a 22-year-old sales officer, Timothy Dzor and a factory worker, Malik Yahaya (50), reside in Ogba area of Lagos.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Joseph Ajebe, told the court that the offences were committed between February and April at Densa Food Ltd., Ikeja.
Ajebe told the court that the stolen items were discovered while taking a stock from the warehouse.
The prosecutor said that Dzor, when asked to give account of the missing sugar, could not give a satisfactory explanation about it.
“He was subsequently handed over to the police,’’ Ajebe said.
He said that Dzor mentioned Yahaya’s name as his accomplice and they were both charged to court.
The offences contravened Sections 286 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Each of the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Alexander Komolafe, granted each of the accused bail of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ajebe adjourned the case until June 19 for mention.
