The Zamfara Government on Monday directed Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state to accept all corps members posted to them for the one-year national service.
The state Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Skills Acquisition, Alhaji Abdullahi Gurbin-Bore, gave the directive at the closing ceremony of the 2017 Batch ‘A’ orientation course at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Tsafe, Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.
Gurbin-Bore said that corps members should be allowed to contribute their quota to the development of the state.
“We all know the great contributions of the NYSC scheme to the development of our dear state and nation at large.
“Therefore, we should encourage them to discharge their one-year constitutional duty,” he said.
He said the state government had benefited a lot through a partnership with the NYSC, especially in the areas of education, health care, agriculture as well as rural and community development.
The commissioner also urged the traditional leaders, local council authorities and other stakeholders to welcome the corps members and give them necessary support and encouragement to discharge their duties effectively.
“I am using this opportunity to call on corps members serving in the state to be dedicated, transparent and disciplined while undergoing their one-year mandatory service,” he said.
In her remarks, the NYSC Coordinator in the state, Hajiya Rahamatu Sanda, commended the state government for the ongoing renovation of facilities at the NYSC orientation camp.
Sanda said the corps members that concluded their three weeks orientation course were posted to schools, hospitals and farms in rural areas.
The coordinator, who urged the corps members to be good ambassadors of the NYSC and Nigeria in general, urged them to respect the culture and religion of their host communities.
“You should avoid anything that will tarnish the image of NYSC in your host communities and meet the expectations given to you by the NYSC, ” she said.
