“A suicide bomber blew himself up at the gate of the embassy,” the police source said adding, “Five other attackers went inside the embassy.”
The source said gunfire was still ongoing in the area.
“At least one wounded person has been admitted to hospital in the city,” Dr Salim Rasuli, the head of Kabul’s hospitals, told dpa.
Several vehicles belonging to elite police units and ambulances were seen heading towards the site of the attack, as broadcast by ToloNews TV.
