Badagry council boss warns youths against mounting roadblocks

The Chairman of, Badagry Local Government in Lagos State, Mr Olusegun Onilude, has warned youths to desist from mounting security roadblocks in the area.
The council chairman in Badagry on Thursday said that anyone found mounting roadblocks in the neighbourhoods would be arrested.
“Youths in the area are in the habit of mounting roadblocks in residential area and they claim its a form of security for people who reside in the area.
“Some of the roadblocks are used for other illegal things and it also causes unwarranted hardship for road users, so youths should desist from this act.
“Roadblocks and checkpoints are carried out by authorised security agencies only; so henceforth anyone caught in the act would be arrested by security agencies and made to face the wrath of the law,” he warned.
Onilude said he had met with various vigilante groups so as to foster community policing adding that security training would be carried out for them.
“We have had several meetings with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Badagry so as to facilitate security training for the various vigilante groups in the area.
“The aim of carrying out this exercise is to ensure that our community is safe and every street has a vigilante group who is safeguarding the lives and properties of the residents.
“We are also determined to fish out bad elements in our community, so proactive steps must be taken,” Onilude said.
