Embassy Arrests Traveling Agent With Forged Documents

Officials of the Italian Embassy in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria have arrested a 43 years old traveling agent, Abimbola Olusesan for allegedly presenting forged bank documents to procure visa for his client.
The suspect was handedover to the Operatives of the Police Special Fraud Unit, PSFU, Ikoyi.
Trouble started for Olusesan when as a travelling agent in September, 2016 allegedly altered Ecobank Statement of account No 4132101803 and went to the Italian Consulate General Office in Lagos to present the document to the officials to obtain a visa for his client, Olalekan Ogundipe, knowing fully well that he altered the documents.
Police reports that when the Embassy officials perused through the documents, they discovered that the suspect had altered them.
They arrested him and handed him over to the police.
And after investigation by ASP Lawal Audu and his team, Olusesan was arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos on a count charge of felony to wit, alteration of documents.
Police Counsel,Wewe Adegbayi told the Court that the accused knowingly presented alterated Bank Statement of account to the officials of the Italian embassy with the intent that it might be used or acted upon as genuine to obtain visa for his client to the prejudice of the Consulate General of Italy.
Adegbayi said that the offence the accused committed was punishable under section 365 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime and Magistrate J.O.A Adepoju granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two surties in like sum and adjourned the case till 27 November, 2017 for mention.
Adepoju ordered that the defendant be remanded at Ikoyi Prison, Lagos pending his fulfillment of the bail conditions.
