The National Ethics and Values Compliance Office (NEVACO) has described the alleged recruitment racketeering currently going on in the agency as false.

The allegation was published in one of the dailies on Monday 13 November, 2017, but NEVACO described it as baseless and unjustifiable.

The publication credited to one Mr. Tajudeen Toyin-Oke has since been dismissed as a mere handiwork of detractors who do not want the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to succeed in its on-going reform in the cleaning up the nation of its corrupt elements.

According to the statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ayoola Olawemo, the agency assured the general public of its positive outlook while urging its staff to continue with their activities without fear of intimidation and threat from any quarters.

The statement in full:

“The attention of the National Ethics and Values Compliance Office has been drawn to a publication in the Leadership Newspapers of Monday, 13th November, 2017 on page 17 credited to Mr Tajudeen Toyin-Oke that the office is not recruiting.

“This is coupled with a further allegation that a job racketeer team led by Otunba Dada and Olamide Alale was behind the new recruitment. First and foremost, the main issue here is that Otunba Dele Dada who was appointed as the Director of Establishment and Implementation was duly commissioned with his team for the assignment on behalf of the office.
“We want to unequivocally state here that Mr. Tajudeen Toyin –Oke is far from the seat of NEVACO governance as he is only able to know accurately what is going on in his organisation – Civil Society for Ethics and Values Initiatives (CSFEVI). The person in question was the former Director of Finance and Account (DFA) of the office and had since been relieved of his appointment.

“Moreover, the office wants to inform the general public that NEVACO is not recruiting newly as claimed by the report but it is only collating the list of staff who have been working with the office for the past two years. In addition, the office wants to bring to the notice of the public that the agreement reached with the Presidency on the establishment of the office is that the office will be self-accounting which means that the office will fend for itself with respect to funds generation and application of the fund so generated.

“We want to also use this medium to communicate to the revered National Assembly members not to entertain any discussion from an individual who is not part of the creation of the office but that the National Assembly should kindly always refer to the Presidency on the matter concerning NEVACO.

“Finally, the office is using this medium to pass this information to its state officers across the nation and its entire staffer to continue with their activities without fear of intimidation and threats from any quarters.”
