Taju Olanrewaju of Ekiti on Friday in Abuja won the male 77kg snatch event at the National Weightlifting Trials ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the two-day National Weightlifting Trials which opened at the Abuja National Stadium on Thursday will end on Friday.
Salihu Vanusa came second, followed by Okudiri Edeh in the third position.
In the male 85kg category, Gideon Aigbefoh came first while Ismaila Sadiq and Michael Anyawelechi came second and third respectively.
For the male 77kg clean and jerk event, Seldum Suleiman came first while Olanrewaju also came second and Sanusi Suleiman came third.

In the 85kg clean and jerk category, Anyawelechi came first while Aigbefoh and Sadiq came second and third.
After the events, Aigbefoh while speaking with NAN attributed his victory to hard work and God’s grace, saying God who created everything made his victory possible.
“Nigeria lifters are working very hard to ensure qualification for the Commonwealth Games. We are putting in our best, even with little or nothing from government to encourage us,’’ he said.
The trials was to select the best lifters who will represent Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games and other international championships.
