A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Exporting Corporate Nigeria Projects (ECNP), on Wednesday appealed to some state governors to support Nigeria’s contingent to the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
Samuel Adeleye, Chairman of the NGO, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the group had contacted governors of Lagos, Kogi, Niger, and Rivers for support.
Adeleye said that the group had also in continuation of its commitment contacted the governors of Nasarawa State and Akwa-Ibom.
He said the governors’ support was imperative for not just a glorious outing in Australia, but to reposition Nigeria in its pride of place in global sports ratings.
“We urge these governors to give their support to the Nigerian contingent so that they will shine and make Nigeria proud in Australia.
“Nigeria occupies a place of honour and pride in the Commonwealth of Nations and cannot be left out,’’ Adeleye said.

The group’s chairman restated the importance of total support for the contingent, saying it was time to demonstrate the country’s superiority in sports.
He said the group would continue to promote Nigeria’s projects in all sectors for economic advancement and stability.
“We shall be visiting selected states in the coming weeks to solicit for support,’’ Adeleye said.
