Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has said that empowering youths will not only change their mindset to create wealth as entrepreneurs but have a multiplier effect on the country’s economy

.

Okowa stated this on Monday in Asaba when the General Overseer of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo and some members of his church paid him a courtesy call.

The governor said that youth empowerment through skill and entrepreneurship acquisition would help create wealth and ensure development in the nation.

He said most states in the country had high recurrent expenditure and low capital expenditure.

Okowa, however, said that it was time the youths were empowered so as to change their mindset from depending on white collar jobs to making themselves entrepreneurs.

“Today’s youths need to be empowered to create wealth for themselves and employ more people.

“It is time to empower our people, change their mindset to create wealth for themselves and become entrepreneurs.

“It will have a multiplier effect on the economy; this will turn our nation round for the better and if we rely on the wisdom of God, we will not get things wrong,” Okowa said.

The governor said it was only through the word of God that people’s minds could be soothed to enable them to re-discover themselves and find solution to their different challenges in life.

He urged Nigerians to have sincere love for God and worship him in spirit and in truth.

We are quite convinced that it is God that hears our prayers and can restore peace to the states and the country.

“This is a trying time in this nation but we should not complain but believe that God is doing something about the challenges facing the country.

“I hope that as a country, we will learn our lessons and do things right,” he said.

Earlier, Ashimolowo had told the governor that he was in the state for a two-day programme in Asaba and Warri.

He commended Okowa for creating an enabling environment for peace and tranquility to reign in the state.
