China hopes it can hold constructive talks with the U. S. to achieve a win-win solution to settle trade issues between the world’s two largest economies, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in a daily press briefing in Beijing.

U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to announce additional tariffs on Chinese imports later on Thursday, following an intellectual property probe launched in August 2017.

The White House said U.S. President Donald Trump is set to announce new sanctions against China after a months-long probe into alleged Chinese intellectual property theft.

“The measures could include tariffs between 30 and 60 billion dollars, as well as restrictions on investment,’’ U.S. media have reported.

Recently, Trump slapped tariffs on steel and aluminium imports, which a Chinese trade official described as a “wanton attack” on the multilateral trade system.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has however warned that “no one will emerge a winner from a trade war” and that Beijing hopes Washington will act “rationally.”

Li added that China would take measures towards achieving a more balanced trading relationship with the U.S.
