Ogun State Police Community Relation Committee has called on organizations and philanthropic bodies to support security agencies in curbing crimes and criminality in the society.

The state Chairman of PCRC, Alhaji Ibraheem Olaniyan made this appeal at the general meeting of the association in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Olaniyan enjoined members to remain committed to the service of the nation. He also called for more assistance and support for the police.

The PCRC chairman disagreed with those calling for the scrapping of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) in the country, saying the squad has been helping the police to check crimes.

“Operatives of the SARS are giving a good account of themselves and have been helping us to maintain security in the country,” he stated.

Alhaji Ibraheem also announced that the PCRC in partnership with other organisations and communities had successfully completed and hand over Sagamu Area Command office named after the Ogun State Commissioner of Police Ahmed iliyasu and refurbished police vehicles in Ota and other area commands.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police has charged community leaders to continue their support for the police to ensure effective fight against criminals.

DSP Ubah Adams, the officer in charge of the Federal anti-robbery squad (FSARS) in the state, described the clamour for the scrapping of SARS as baseless and appealed to Nigerians to support the squad with information about the activities of criminals.
