Commissioner arrests man with 20 textbooks in WAEC exam hall

Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja Thursday arrested a middle-aged man at Niger Grammar School, Port Harcourt for aiding and abetting examination malpractice in the ongoing West African Examination Council (WAEC) Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE).
Luck ran out on the middle-aged man when the Commissioner paid an unscheduled visit to the school where candidates were writing the English Language examination.
The man was caught with over 20 English examination booklets in a special hall for some candidates.
The man who could not give satisfactory answers on his reasons for being in the hall with about 20 English language textbooks and questions and answers was promptly arrested and handed over to policemen.
It was further learnt that the principal of the school would be made to face the music if found to have colluded with the suspect to perpetrate the criminal act.
The commissioner recently promised to maintain the highest ethical standards in the conduct of examinations in schools.
