House of Representatives

The House of Representatives on Wednesday ordered President Muhammadu Buhari to appear before it over incessant killings in Benue and other parts o the nation.

The House said it would halt sitting for three days in solidarity with Nigerians over the killings in the country.

Fulani herdsmen had on Tuesday killed 19 people in a Catholic Church in Benue State, while massive killings are ongoing in Taraba, Plateau and some parts of the federation.

The assembly also passed a vote of no confidence on the country’s Service Chiefs and all the security advisers to the president.

These resolutions followed the unanimous adoption of a motion under matters of urgent public importance moved by Rep Mark Gbillah (Benue-APC).

Nigeria has been facing security challenges, ranging from Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast, herdsmen and farmers’ fights in the North Central States, among others.
