Nigeria’s Falconets began their campaign in the U-20 Women World Cup in Germany with a 1-1 draw game against England this afternoon.
The Nigerian ladies, who played better than their England counterparts in the match, lost many scoring chances that could have earned them the three points from the encounter.
England’s Kerry Harop drew the first blood at towards the end of the first half through a clean header that beat Nigeria’s goalkeeper Alaba Jonathan and the Nigerian defenders.
The much needed equaliser for Nigeria came through Desire Oparanozie in the 60th minute when she bravely scored through a pullout from the right flank.
The performance of the Falconets showed a team lacking the character to convert chances into goals despite dominating the game.
