The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Monday said it remained committed to developing safety practice and ensure the safety of personnel engaged in various operations across the country.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Monday said it remained committed to developing safety practice and ensure the safety of personnel engaged in various operations across the country.

The Air Officer Commanding, Air Training Command Kaduna, AVM Muhammad Idris, said during the command second quarter safety week at NAF base in Kaduna, that all personnel must uphold safety as key ingredient in NAF operations.

The week has as its theme ” Promoting Safety Culture in a Flying Training Environment .”

Idris said the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall, Sadiq Abubakar, regards safety as one of the NAF core business of all air service personnel, as it guarantees efficiency in achieving set targets.

“The safety week will provide the necessary atmosphere to share experience with positive impact on flight and domestic safety in the NAF.

“Equally, we have articulated safety programmes at the NAF Institute of Safety to educate personnel on safety related matters in compliance with international best practice.

“The programmes include flight safety, Occupational Health , Safety and technical investigation.”

According to him, safety is key in creating better understanding of the goals of the service, and significant to changing personnel attitude and behaviors in relation to the workplace.
