A Sokoto Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded an 18-year-old student, Usama Abubakar, standing trial for allegedly inflicting injuries on one Saufullahi Abdullahi.

The Chief Magistrate, Malam Shu’aibu Ahmed, said that Abubakar’s remand was to enable the police to conclude its investigation into the case.

The magistrate adjourned the case until Sept. 10 for further mention.

Abubakar, who resides at Tundun Wada area of Sokoto, pleaded guilty to the charge of causing grievous hurt levelled against him.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Monday Kennedy, told the court that the case was reported at the Ugwuan Rogo Police Station, Sokoto, by the complainant on Aug. 25.

Kennedy said that the defendant accosted the complainant at Tundun Wada area of the state and used a knife to stab the complainant 11 times, thereby causing him serious injuries.

The prosecutor, consequently, prayed the court to adjourn the case in order to allow the complainant who is still receiving treatment in a hospital, to recover to give testimony in court.

Kennedy said that the offence committed contravened Section 247 of the Penal Code.
