As The support for governor Akinwunmi Ambode ‘s re-election bid gathers momentum, Amalgamated Computer Stationery and Allied Trader Association of Nigeria, ACSATAN, on Lagos Island axis of the state has thrown it weight behind the Governor.
The Association, which was recently restructured for better performance and admittance of new members through its president, Chris Onyekachi, said the move became imperative to ensure that members were in unity of purpose, especially as the elections approaches.
According to him, the ability of Ambode to unite the diverse ethnic groups that abounded in Lagos and upholding religious tolerance among all Lagosians had not gone unnoticed.
Speaking further, the president of the Association said considering the diversity of members, they had been able to forge the path of unity, peace and tolerance, regardless of their differences, and that these attributes they have also witnessed in Governor Ambode.
Onyekachi also sighted the infrastructural renewal that was being witnessed across the state as another reason, hence the decision for the Association to regroup, saying he is worthy of their votes.
However, he said the association had been redundant before as members were not not participating, saying that the reason for regrouping was to build a strong association based on integrity, transparency, accountability and governance.
“Against the backdrop of diverse interest in the association, we believe that bringing everybody on the same umbrella will make us have common purpose with everyone carried along in order to bring sanity to the association. This is not an era where members can do what they like, everybody will be accountable to the association.
“That was why we introduce task force to make every members of the association compliant. We hope to grow more and bring other traders in the same business under the same umbrella to ensure everybody’s interest are protected. Gone are the days of strife.
