A Sokoto Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday sentenced 18-year-old Abdulaziz Saadu, to three months imprisonment for stealing property valued at N88,400.

The Chief Magistrate, Malam Abubakar Adamu, sentenced Saadu without an option of fine.
Saadu, who resides at old airport area of Sokoto, had pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of stealing levelled against him.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Uwaisu Mohammed, had told the court that the convict intentionally broke into the house of one Paul Ezenwalu of the same address and stole his four cell phones, one sharp television and a wallet containing N2,000.

The prosecutor said that Ezenwalu reported the case on Aug. 1, at Ungwan Rogo Police Station, Sokoto.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 288 of the Penal Code.
