As the 2011 general elections gather momentum, members of the Lagos State Tye and Dye Cooperative Thrift Society have given their support for the second term ambition of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN.
At a rally held recently to declare their support for the state governor, representatives of the association drawn from all the local government areas in the state converged on Agege to officially endorse Fashola.
The endorsement programme was conducted by the Patron of the association and former commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives in the state, Chief Enock Kolapomoye Ajiboso.
When Ajiboso raised the question on whether or not to support the second term ambition of the governor, the delegates said that the governor should be allowed to continue in office.
“We are endorsing Fashola for a second term and we are doing this publicly for people to know our stand on the matter,†Rasheed Temitope, the coordinator of the association said at the event.
According to him, members of the association have cause to be grateful to the state governor for his moral and financial support since the formation of the association.
“Through the Fashola administration and the entire support and influence of our patron, Chief Ajiboso, members of this association have received loans running into millions of naira to develop their professions and I want to say here that our members have been paying back the loans they collected without stress,†he said.
He said that members of the association are solidly behind Fashola. “We know he has the capacity to do it and we know many Lagosians will agree with us, he is indeed the best man for the job,†he added.
