Last Sunday, top Nigeria rapper, Modenine, dropped his latest mixtape, Pay At-10-Shun and a promotional music video of one of the tracks.

Showbiz Trends learnt that with the buzz that heralded the new work, comments and criticisms have been trailing it. But many never bargained for the hostility unleashed on one of the fans who felt disappointed in the new work as Modenine threw caution to the winds and reeled heaps of insults on the former die-hard fan of the rapper.

The fan, Malaysia-based Roger Jay, narrated the verbal assault unleashed on him by the award-winning rapper.

According to him, “being a die-hard fan of Modenine way back to the Malcolm IX: Lost Sessions era, I feel I have a say in this…After seeing the post made by a popular Nigerian blog site I decided to download the rapper’s latest mixtape, Pay At-10-Shun and watched the video, Lose You, on Youtube. Immediately, I felt as if Modenine was about to quit underground hip-hop for the popular type and to confirm my doubts, I decided to post the video on my Facebook page with the comment: ‘Is Modenine quitting hip-hop to join the other form of hip-hop?’ Listen to this and tell, but I wish he wouldn’t (last living breed of the underground)’”

Jay added that he meant no harm, “it was nothing but a honest comment, because of the type of die-hard fan of Modenine that I’ve always been. The next thing I got was a comment from Modenine himself reading: ‘You are a big fucking fool!’

“Immediately I felt thrown off board and so disappointed because this was a guy I respected and loved so much. After his comment, I noticed he had deleted and blocked me off Facebook.

Immediately after Modenine’s action, the fan said he threw away all the rapper’s materials in his repertoire because, “to me, there’s no point being a fan any more and for the record, he has just lost a real dedicated and die-hard fan.”
