Why I Answered My People’s Clarion Call – Adaranijo
That Hon. Taofeek Abiodun Adaranijo is eyeing a House of representatives seat in 2011 is no longer news. His declaration to represent Agege Federal Constituency on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Political Train reliably gathered, is a culmination of entreaties on him from a broad spectrum of stakeholders across his constituency.
According to political elites and a cross section of the electorate, the clamour for Adaranijo to represent them at the House of Representatives was the result of his track records of achievements throughout his tenure as a two term chairman of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, LCDA, and service to the people at the grassroots.
His declaration has received an overwhelming endorsement from the various political players, traditional rulers, residents, electorate and other faithful of the AC N in his area.
Political leaders who spoke highly of the achievements of his administration in Orile-Agege, LCDA affirmed that what the constituency requires ultimately at the moment is his maturity and experience at the National Assembly.
“Urging him to contest for the House of Representatives position is an expression of our love and support for him and for the wonderful works that he had done in transforming Orile Agege. I am delighted about his sterling performance.
“There has been evidence of transformation across the Orile Agege LCDA and this is one of the reasons behind the clamour for him to contest for the House of Representative seat next year and give us a very good representation,†said one of the party leaders who does not want his name in print.
Speaking with Political Train, Adaranijo said that he was motivated by entreaties on him, adding that he was convinced about the sincerity and passion of the overwhelming majority of the people.
“The past few years have afforded me the opportunity to restore the hope of my people. I cannot at this moment of our development decline to continue to guide into maturity the constituency which we have worked hard to build.
“Anything short of acceding to the call of the people will be placing myself on the wrong side of history. To do otherwise will be to abandon my life long commitment to the provision of selfless service to the people of Agege Federal Constituency,†he said.
He added: “we have seen our representatives in the past. Many of them have not lived up to expectation. With my experience and political know how, I am going to attract more federal government presence to my constituency. I have worked at the council and related well with the state.
“In fact, I want to appreciate those fighting for primaries. I believe in it so much. I am a democrat. People should be able to exercise their democratic rights by voting for candidates oft heir choice who they believe will represent them properly. I am not afraid of primaries. I have 80 per cent assurance of victory because I am a grassroots man,” he said.
