Shocking Eviction From Glo Naija Sings

Moses

On Sunday, 31 October,  Moses, one of the promising wannabes at the Glo Naija Sings,  became the first evictee from the popular Mnet music talent hunt show.

Moses

Moses, who emerged from the Benin zone, received the least votes to the  consternation of studio guests of the show.

The tension was palpable as the top nine contestants mounted the stage, each aware  that it could be the last night on the reality show. Contestants who were safe were  one after the other called upon and asked to go back on stage and soon, everyone was  safely behind the stage except Casey and Moses.

There was no telling in which direction the votes would swing as both contestants  had been consistent favourites on the show, more so for Moses, who had been the  judges’ highlight two weeks in a row.

Then the announcement was made and Moses was out.

The crowd was numb, it was the final and one of the most promising acts on the show  was the first to get the axe due to garnering insufficient number of votes.

If the unpredictable nature of the voting process imbued a measure of fear in the  remaining contestants, it was not evident as they quickly put the recent eviction  behind them and geared up to give the expectant audience their best performance yet  as they took to the stage to perform some of the biggest love song hits of the last  50 years.

Nikki Laoye, the celebrity guest of the night was thoroughly impressed with the  quality of singers the show has gathered. However, three acts stood out from the  rest for her. They were Ekeng, who she described as a mature singer whose diction  and stage presence were reminiscent of a seasoned performer. For Da Brodas, she was  blown away by their confidence and harmony and for Rasine, she felt the uniqueness  of her voice, her passion and expression stood her out. She was not too impressed  with Peace, who she felt did not “bring it” that evening.

Tosin Martins excitedly exclaimed that the show was just as competitive as it was  supposed to be at this stage and felt elated at the quality of performance displayed  that evening.

With the show over, all everyone could think of was if these performances would be  enough to keep the best singers in the competition.  Or would there be another  shocking eviction next week like that of Moses who consistently received rave  reviews from the judges? This decision is really up to the voters as they decide who  goes home with the mouth-watering prize money of US$100,000 and a brand new Toyota  Rav4 from Glo.
