A suspected PHCN cable vandal, Emeka Igwe, who was arrested recently by the police at Dolphin Estate Police Division, Ikoyi, Lagos State has been arraigned before a court. The man was caught inside the man hole where all the 33 KVA cable wire serving Ikoyi, Obalende and Lagos Island pass through with iron blade and pliers.
He was charge before Eti Osa Magistrate’s Court on a three-count charge of felony and stealing, offences punishable under section 516, 417 and 451 of the criminal code cap 32 vol.11 laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2003.
Count 2 and 3 read that Emeka Igwe and others now at large at the same date, time and place in the aforesaid magisterial district while armed with iron saw blade and pliers unlawfully cut Power Holding of Nigeria, PHCN,’s 33 kva cable wire.
The accused pleaded guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate, Miss Y.B. Badejo Okunsanya, adjourned the matter till 8 December, and ordered the suspect to be remanded in Ikoyi prison.
