Teenager, 2 Others Docked For Murder

An 18-year old Olajide Alaka and two other persons have been arraigned before an Ebute Metta Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, for conspiracy and murder.

Those arraigned with the teenager were Ayodele Onojobi, 21 and Saidi Ayo, 22.

They were alleged to have conspired to commit murder and murdered a yet to be identified woman on 24 October, 2010, at Tonette Hotel and Suites, Abaranje area, Ikotun, Lagos state, the offences which according to the prosecutor, Inspector Philip Ugbodu, are punishable under Sections 324 and 319 of the Criminal Code Cap. C17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

The count one of the charge reads, “that you Olajide Alaka, Ayodele Onojobi, Saidi Ayo and others now at large on the 24 October, 2010, at Tonette Hotel and Suites, Abaranje area, Ikotun, Lagos, in the Lagos magisterial district did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit murder.

The count two reads that you Olajide Alaka, Ayodele Onojobi, Saidi Ayo and others now at large, on the same date, time and place and in the aforesaid magisterial district did unlawfully killed one young woman, yet to be identified and thereby committed an offence punishable under Sections 319 (1) of the Criminal Code Cap. C17, vol. 2, Laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2003.”

Though, they pleaded not guilty to the two count charges, their plea were not taken by the presiding magistrate, Mrs. K. Doja-Ojo.

The magistrate ordered that they should be remanded in prison’s custody till 28 January, 2011, for trial.
