8 killed in Hanau shootings in Germany

German prosecutors have confirmed eight persons killed and five critically injured in two shooting attacks in the town of Hanau on Wednesday.

Yet-to-be identified gunmen opened fire at two shisha bars in Hanau east of Frankfurt, German newspapers Bild and the Hanauer Anzeiger reported.

The Hessenschau regional broadcaster also confirmed the two shooting incidents.

The motive for the shootings remains unknown and German police officials said that the attackers have not been found.
