A Magistrates’ Court in Ikorodu, Lagos sentenced a jobless man, Tunde Olushola, to nine months imprisonment with hard labour for breaking a Hyundai Creta Jeep windshield.
The police charged Olushola with criminal damage to property.
The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Gbemileke Agoi told the court that the convict committed the offence on March 13, at about 3 p.m. at Ajegunle Ikorodu road in Ikorodu, Lagos state. He added that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 339 and punishable under Section 340 of the criminal law of Lagos State, 2015 as amended.
Presiding Magistrate A.R. Onilogbo sentenced the defendant based on the convict’s confession and evidence of the broken windshield of a Hyundai Creta Jeep worth N295,000 belonging to one Sulaimon Rasaq.
Onilogbo did not give the convict an option to pay any fine.
