Nasarawa Government has restated commitment to developing the culture and tourism potentials in the state to boost revenue.

Mr Dogo Shammah, state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism stated this on Saturday, at the African Culture and Tourism retreat in Lagos,

Shammah said the Gov. Abdullahi Sule-led government is working hard to showcase its tourism potentials across the globe with a view to wooing investors for partnership in order to develop the sector.

He said that the State government is currently intensifying effort to see how best to package the tourism and cultural sites to showcase its values to the outside world through documentation.

Shammah described the state as the future tourism hub in Africa due to its abundant potential tourist sites.

“The state has among other tourist sites; Farin Ruwa waterfalls, Doma Dam and its Unique island, Fefe Ruwa lake, Keana Salt village and Maloney Hill.

“That is why the state government has recently released funds to the ministry to go round tourism potential sites for assessment to see how best to develop them,” he said.

Information Commissioner assured investors and the organisers of the retreat that Nasarawa state is ready to partner with them so as to develop the tourism sector of the state.

The African Culture and Tourism Retreat is essentially, to create awareness about Agenda 2063, stimulate conversation and evolve practical strategies for the development of tourism and cultural potentials.

Agenda 2063 is a strategic framework for the socio-economic transformation of the Africa Continent for the next 50 years, it seeks to accelerate the implementation of past and existing continental initiatives for growth and sustainable development.
