Three fun seekers, Malis Oluwo, Tunji Fadoun and Tade Oyetunji drowned on Christmas day at the Suntan Beach, Badagry, Lagos State, P.M.NEWS has learnt.
Investigations revealed that one of the fun seekers, Malis, came to the beach with a lady yet to be identified. The lady fled after the incident.
The second fun seeker, Tunji Fadoun, a young boy, was rescued but died on his way to the Badagry General Hospital. “If an ambulance had come early, this boy would not have died because when I brought him out of the water, he was still alive, but was unconscious,†a rescuer who identified himself as Felix told P.M.NEWS.
Felix disclosed further that over 20 people were rescued that day. “We have rescued many people today. They can’t swim and won’t stay away from the water. Here in Nigeria, we don’t have life protectors, that is why many people always die during festive periods,” he added.
The corpses of the victims were deposited at a private mortuary at Badagry.
A source at the mortuary said more than six corpses were deposited in the morgue that day, among which were the four fun seekers who drowned.
