Fashola Promises To Deliver Ongoing Projects By 2011
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has promised Lagos residents that his administration will deliver most of the ongoing projects for their use by mid 2011.
Fashola made the promise while speaking to some journalists after he had inspected road and market projects under construction across the state.
He also promised that 7,000 market men and women would benefit from the Oyingbo and Tejuosho markets when completed.
The governor, accompanied by some of his security and personal aides, inspected the ongoing construction of Oyingbo and Tejuosho Modern Markets Redevelopment projects.
He also inspected the ongoing drainage and road construction of Ishaga Road in Mushin area, leading to Akanro Street that connects the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway at Ilasamaja
Also inspected, the Canal that passes through the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, that was being constructed.
Fashola was also at the bridge that would connect Agiliti with the Ikorodu Road Expressway at Mile 12, Ketu in Kosofe Local Council Development Area; the Egbeda-Idimu-Ikotun Road and the Obalende Under bridge construction works.
Addressing journalists after the tour, Fashola promised that before the end of June 2011, the current ongoing market and road projects would be ready for use by Lagosians.
“I am impressed with the pace and progress of works by the contractors and I have directed them not to observe any holidays until the projects are completed. They have assured me that they would deliver them ahead of schedule,’’ he said.
He assured the market men and women that the modern markets would serve 7,000 of them when they are completed.
“The state government has also put in place mortgage loans from where the market men and women can access funds with which to own stalls, which they will repay with little interest over a period of time,’’ he said.
